MicroBio Air samplers are lightweight hand held instruments (only 700g.). They are powered by 4xAA rechargeable NiMH batteries. Fully charged they will sample about 25,000 litres per charge. They use standard 55mm contact platesor 90mm Petri dishes, which the user can fill for themselves, making for very inexpensive consumables. The user can select the media for the organism they wish to monitor. Pre-filled plates are also readily available from lab suppliers. The stainless steel sampling head can be autoclaved.

USES FOR MICROBIO SAMPLERS: Air is a natural carrier of a whole range of bioaerosols, generated by human, animal, and even plant activities. Normal activities in animal houses will result in bioaerosols being generated from the animals, their foodstuffs, faeces and bedding. Bioaerosols can be generated by many other processes, e.g. in the food, fermentation, sewage and waste industries. Natural release of spores and pollens, or application of biological pesticides will increase the levels of bioaerosols. In many situations it is essential to monitor and control airborne micro-organisms, to reduce respiratory infections in humans and animals, and product contamination which can lead to serious health risks - e.g. in food processing areas, hospitals, pharmaceutical manufacturing, bacteriology laboratories, sterile rooms, brewery fermentation areas, animal care, offices, ventilation systems etc. With the inexpensive MicroBio samplers it is possible to easily monitor the levels of a whole range of micro-organisms, and know when to take corrective action.
